Speaker 0 (0:01): You are allowed to have those kind of thoughts to enter into your mind, but then you have to do something about it. Jalen Brunson, the point guard for the New York Knicks, the NBA Finals champion New York Knicks. He mentioned that in an interview after the team came back from the largest deficit in NBA Finals history being down 29 points. I missed the first half of that game. I was at a Bible class that was on a Wednesday night.

Unknown Speaker (0:38): Came back, looked at the score, I was driving home. Wow. This is unbelievable. By the time I got home, they're down 29 plus points. How do you respond when you're down?

Speaker 0 (0:50): How do you respond when doubts creep into your mind? How do you respond when everybody may think, except for the New York fans, that there's no way you're ever going to be able to dig yourself out of this hole, this pit, this situation? You are allowed to have those thoughts to enter into your mind, but you must do something about it. That is great advice. That's great perspective.

Speaker 0 (1:19): That's exactly what they did. You don't come back from '29 points in thirty seconds and one minute or even one quarter. But you can, over two quarters, or almost two quarters, twenty three minutes and fifty nine or fifty eight seconds, that's when they took that final lead with one point two seconds left. So how does this relate to you and me? An I can do mindset, attitude, disposition.

Speaker 0 (1:51): It matters so much in our lives. Because almost every day, maybe that may be a stretch, every once in a while, every week, once a week, whatever the situation may be, I think we all can relate. Doubts creep into our minds. I don't know if I'm going be able to finish this task. I texted a friend of mine yesterday where we share where we are on the scale with our weight.

Speaker 0 (2:17): He said, I'm about ready to give up. Right? He's got some health issues that are taking place now. I'm about ready to give up. Well, we're allowed to have those thoughts.

Speaker 0 (2:27): But what are we going to do about that? And what are we going to do about those thoughts? That's what I want to really impress upon you with a few moments that I have with you in today's show. How we handle those kinds of thoughts will make all the difference. What made Jalen Brunson's comments so strong and effective is that he added this action component.

Speaker 0 (2:53): Right? And that's something that all of us can apply in our lives. You may say, I have all of this debt. How am I ever gonna get out of this? $1 at a time, 1 quarter at a time, 1 dime, 1 nickel.

Speaker 0 (3:09): They don't make pennies anymore, but they're still floating around out there. That's the attitude that we have to have. That is such an important thing. And so I want to just really instill and encourage you wherever you may be. You're listening for a reason, and you may be going through something at this very moment, and you may have doubts that are creeping into your head.

Speaker 0 (3:31): How am I ever going to overcome this debt, this weight loss challenge, or my health situation, or sin, whatever this case may be? Well, you have to attach action towards it. And the NBA Finals is just such an example for life. On one hand, you have the Spurs, who are way out in front, and they seemingly let go of the very things that got them there. On the other hand, you have the Knicks, who could have just easily thrown in the towel, could have said, Hey, we'll play for game four.

Speaker 0 (4:14): We're going to rest our starters. And that could have changed the entire outlook as well. But all of them stayed united, and all of them had enough belief to say, you know what? Let's at least see what we can do. Let's chip away.

Speaker 0 (4:32): Something else that I saw on Instagram, Jalen talked about as he was talking to his team, he said, we've been down worse before. I don't know if that's the case or not. I know they've been down like 20 in the conference final in the fourth quarter with seven minutes to go. Maybe that's what he was referring to. And they came back and won that game.

Speaker 0 (4:52): So they looked on past moments and experiences to help them with that new challenge. And I think that's something great for all of us to do as well. So you're allowed to have thoughts. We're allowed to have certain feelings of doubt. But what are we going to do about it?

Speaker 0 (5:13): That, folks, makes all the difference. I want to know, I want to hear from you. How have you overcome certain challenges in your life? And what are you going to do about maybe the doubts that are creeping into your mind at this very moment? Go back and check that game out.

Speaker 0 (5:32): I think it will inspire you to keep going. And I hope that this episode will inspire you to keep going as well. I can do, so can you. Take care.
